ROSSER GOODMAN BIO
Rosser Goodman got her start a decade ago on Steven Spielberg’s EARTH2, shot in Santa Fe, NM. With a cast and crew of over 250, Rosser recalls it as her “film boot camp.” Committed to her passion as a filmmaker, Rosser quickly moved to Los Angeles to assistant direct a myriad of movies, commercials, and music videos. She worked directly with such A-List talent as: Josh Brolin, Veronica Cartwright, Tim Curry, Meredith Baxter, Blythe Danner, Rosario Dawson, Phyllis Diller, Sean Penn, Brittany Murphy, Oliver Platt, Isabella Rossellini, Keri Russell, Eddie Vedder, and Christopher Walkin. As a seasoned First Assistant Director, Rosser’s resume includes J.J. Abrams, A&E, Disney, Dreamworks, Discovery Networks, HBO, Island Records, Lion’s Gate Lifetime, Dimension, MTV, Paramount, the Sundance Film Festival, and Universal. Early in Rosser’s career, she wrote, directed, and produced several award winning digital shorts. Each of them received worldwide acclaim screening at film festivals worldwide including MIX NEW YORK and IMMAGINARIA. Consequently, record label executive, Nicole Ehrlich, tapped Rosser to direct a rock-n-roll documentary entitled DROPPED, an expose on failed bands signed by record labels. The project became so successful that the Sundance Channel bought it. Rosser went on to director and produce the highly profitable HOLDING TREVOR. A darkly comedic, coming of age film. Regent Releasing nabbed the film at its first Los Angeles festival premiere. Regent promised a U.S. theatrical release and bought all North American rights. Additionally, the film sold in Western European territories. Based on the film’s critical and commercial success, Regent Entertainment inevitably bought the worldwide rights. “Director Rosser Goodman delivers a polished product with solid tech values.” DENNIS HARVEY, DAILY VARIETY “Director Rosser Goodman makes… ‘Trevor’ suspenseful and involving, tinged with humor as well as pathos.” KEVIN THOMAS, L.A. TIMES The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER honored Rosser as one of the Five in Focus film directors. Beside the Five in Focus accolade, Rosser won multiple audience awards for her films including the Berlin Festival and the Freiberg Festival. Her original script, MONGOOSE8, won the Panasonic Filmmakers’ Award. Rosser is often described as an actor’s director by actors and colleagues a like. Directors’ Guild U.P.M., Pamela S. Kuri describes Rosser’s uncanny ability as, “Rosser gets better performances than most union directors can with SAG casts.” Her combination of set savvy, tech savvy and work as an actor makes her an unstoppable and inspiring leader. Born in Washington, D.C., Rosser grew up acting in the theater. At an early age, she was enrolled in the Columbia School of Theatrical Arts. Rosser graduated early from the honors college New College of Florida to attend film graduate school at Temple University’s Anthropology Film Center in Santa Fe, NM. As a successful film and T.V. director, Rosser’s work received acclaim and distribution through Bildkraft, CFMDC, HERE! TV, Netflix, Optimale, PBS, Peccadillo Pictures, Regent Releasing, The Sundance Channel, TLA, Wolfe Video, and world film festivals such as Feminale, Frameline, ImageOut, MadCat, Mezipatra, Outfest, Mix Mexico, Mix Brazil, and Verzaubert. www.rossergoodman.com
